Bell has happy hours

Supol Phuasirirak (Bell) has always melted the hearts of romantic listeners with his mellow singing and sweet songs. Since its release two years ago, his hit love song “San Lan Natee (Hundred Billion Minutes),” from the album Good Afternoon, has become a favourite at Thai weddings.

Late last year, Bell released his latest solo album, Happy Hours. The album’s retro-sounding first single, “Yak Hai Lok Kaab Long (Wish the World Was Smaller),” had no trouble topping local music charts.

More recently, Bell has been promoting his beautiful new ballad, “Suan Tee Hai Pai (Missing Piece),” which comes with a video featuring intriguing special effects created by a GTH filmmaker Golf Paween.

 

Student Weekly recently caught up with the busy Bell to chat about his Happy Hours.


Student Weekly: How did you feel about dancing the first time in the video for “Wish the World Was Smaller”?

Bell: It was fun. Dancing is like exercise, and it can also help you to improve your personality. You can adapt what you learn from dancing into your routine life.
Student Weekly: What kind of music would you like to explore in the future?
Bell: I want to make pop soul music, or add other different genres into pop songs. I plan to create different sounds on my future albums.
Student Weekly: How would you describe your happy hour?
Bell: It’s time that I spend with friends doing what I’m interested in, like seeing a movie or going to a concert. Performing a concert and seeing my fans enjoy themselves also makes me happy.
Student Weekly: Where would you most like to be during your happy hour?
Bell: A quiet beach with beautiful view would be awesome. A while ago, I hosted a travel TV show and stayed at a hotel in Phuket. We had a room right on the edge of a cliff, and the view was spectacular.
Student Weekly: Were any of the songs on your new album written from your real life experiences?
Bell: Every song was written from my point of view. “Tam Sabai [Be Yourself]” really comes from my attitude. It’s about how people should be themselves, even when they’re in a relationship. I believe in being natural. If two people act naturally and still love each other, it will more likely be a long-lasting relationship.
Student Weekly: Are you a romantic person?
Bell: I’m not sure. I can be romantic, but I don’t express myself in a romantic way very often. It would have to be a really special moment for me to express my feelings in that way.



Student Weekly: Is there anything about you that people generally misunderstand?
Bell: I sing heart-warming songs, so listeners assume that I’m a really nice, warm person. I’m not a bad person, and I talk politely to my fans, but I’m different when I’m with my close friends.
Student Weekly: Which performance has been your most memorable so far?
Bell: There have been many. I enjoy seeing people dancing in a pub or singing along with my songs at different events. Singing at weddings is also fun because everybody is happy at an event like that. I feel good knowing that my songs are part of their happy moment.
Student Weekly: How do you feel when people say that you look like Tom from Room 39?
Bell: I don’t think I look like him, but I don’t mind the comment. It just seems funny to me. I hope we can work together in the future. We might play siblings in a drama. [Laughs.]
Student Weekly: Do you have any special message for your fans?
Bell: We tried hard to select the best songs for this album. I hope that Happy Hours can help to make your day.
